Shopify : It’s day one of the lower bracket of the 2022 VALORANT Game Changers Championship, and the opening match pits the Shopify Rebellion of North America against the X10 Sapphire of Thailand. It’s worth noting that both bENITA and JinNy have played competitive CS:GO before, so both teams have some experience.
Both teams showed their mettle in today’s back-and-forth duel, with the two maps going to a decisive winner. Shopify’s great duelist player helped them come back from a 2-0 deficit and win the game.

Because some of the competitors in the Game Changers event are under the age of 18, the tournament’s organizers have had to make alterations to the match schedules leading up to today. Berlin has laws that forbid minors from working overnight.
The first game of the day was moved from its original time slot of 8am CT to 6am CT. No one seemed to mind the postponement, as both squads showed up to Haven full of energy and enthusiasm.
Haven was picked by X10 Sapphire, which was expected given that the team had won each of the previous eleven occasions they had played on the map leading up to today’s match.
Things started out rather normally, with X10 Sapphire jumping out to an early 9-3 lead on their attacking side of the board. The APAC squad employs a bold approach to map play that caught Shopify off surprise.
Shopify, though, fought back in the second half to force OT, as a squad that has often had to confront difficult battles in their own area. The teams battled back and forth in overtime until Shopify emerged victorious, 16-14.
In the postgame interview, sonder mentioned X10 Sapphire’s aggressiveness as a factor in her team’s poor performance in the first half of the map.
X10 Sapphire
After a near miss on Haven, Shopify went with Pearl as their map option and entered the matchup feeling energized. Even though Babytz put up a terrific show in the Chamber, sonder stole the show.
X10 Sapphire had a hard time racking up victories and couldn’t develop an effective economy because to their inconsistent streaks of success.

At the end of the game, Sonder strolled into spawn and finished it off with a flawless Neon ultimate, earning herself an ace. Her team won the game 13–6, and she was named the game’s most valuable player.

The X10 Sapphire have been knocked out of the competition. Shopify advances to meet the victor of Cloud 9 White vs. GUILD X. In the event of a C9 victory, the year-long rivalry between the two best NA teams would culminate in a rematch.
The next Shopify game is scheduled on Tuesday, November 19 at 10 a.m. CT.
