MARY : The victor of today’s third-series match at the VALORANT Game Changers Championship has a leg up on the competition for tomorrow’s championship showdown. G2 Gozen of EMEA and Team Liquid of Brazil squared off in the last semifinal match before the championship.
Although G2 maintained the same level of dominance they’ve shown throughout the tournament, Team Liquid put up a valiant effort. The final score of 2-0 in favor of G2 masks a closer contest.
Despite losing on just one map against the North American favored team Cloud9 White in their last match, Liquid decided to send G2 to Ascent.
MARYAM ” MARY ”

Liquid’s early gamble on this choice paid off, as they won the next five rounds. In Ascent, Liquid’s top player was unquestionably bstrdd on Jett, who the squad counted on to score crucial frags.
However, G2 had their own operator-wielding threat on their side. At 16, Mary was one of the youngest competitors in the event, and she had an opinion to share about the operator duel she fought against bstrdd. The two engaged in head-to-head combat over the whole of the map, making use of the excellent visibility afforded by the high vantage points of Ascent.
The momentum kept shifting from side to team, and the opening map of the match was tied at the end of regulation. And in extra time, G2 triumphed, winning both rounds and the map (14-12) that had defeated them earlier in the week.
Next, G2’s preferred map, Breeze, was included in the series. Breeze was not a map that G2 was especially well-known for in EMEA before to the Game Changers tournament. However, all of a sudden, the squad is becoming well-known in Berlin, close to the tropical seas.
However, Bstrdd nonetheless delivered the goods on Jett once again, showing that he is not afraid to take risks while making plays. In addition to her evasiveness, her 32% headshot percentage provided Liquid reason to be optimistic. Even still, just 35% of Mary’s shots were direct hits. Mary has just contributed to Chamber’s already impressive numbers, making her one of the most powerful agents on Breeze.
Today, mimi was another major contributor for G2. Mimi is one of the EMEA roster’s seasoned veterans, with prior competitive CS:GO experience. While she was on XSET, she also competed in NA.

Even though mimi was quiet at the start of Ascent, after the game found its groove on Breeze, her usefulness took off and her aim was dead on. Mimi won the map point count battle on KAY/O with a score of 21-17, beating out Mary.
G2 defeated Breeze 13-10 with no need for extra time.
There were three distinct areas represented among the top three teams after today’s play at the inaugural international Game Changers tournament. This further validates the inclusion of women and non-binary people inside VALORANT and the esports industry as a whole.
Finally, G2 will face their opponents in the finals. They will either play C9 or Liquid again, or they will play Shopify, a team they haven’t faced before.
Tomorrow, at 12pm CT, Liquid will play the victor of C9 and Shopify.
